On April 12, folks attending a special fundraising auction at the Palace Theater will be able to bid on everything from a week's stay in an apartment in Paris to four loaves of bread baked by Colgate sociology professor Chris Henke.
The auction -- from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. -- is the annual event staged by the Konosioni senior honors society, and the money raised will be given to community organizations helping those in need.
This is the 16th annual auction.
Jessica Halter is a Colgate senior involved in the auction and said the goal is to raise $26,000 that night.
Money from last year's event benefited:
- the Hamilton Public Library;
- the Hamilton Food Cupboard's summer food program for kids;
- and a young scholars program in Utica.
Halter said the list of items in the auction is long. It contains goods and services donated by alumni, but also a lot of items contributed by local businesses. A highlight of the evening will be a hockey jersey signed by U.S. Olympian Jim Craig, who played for the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" gold medal winning team. His daughter is a Colgate student.
